Welcome to the Maui Dolphins Swim Club. We were founded in 1997 with the help of Maui County at the opening of the Upcountry pool, and are the only Upcountry Maui Swim Club. We are a private, nonprofit 501(c) organization whose purpose is to promote swimming for life through the sport of age-group swimming. We strive to provide a positive atmosphere in which to learn and develop the skills of competitive swimming.  Maui Dolphins Swim Club is registered with USA Swimming, the national governing body for amateur swimming in the U.S.. All members of the Maui Dolphins Swim Club, our coaches, and all officials at swim meets are registered as members of USA Swimming. As members of USA Swimming, we compete only with registered clubs.  We invite your financial support.

Our philosophy is a mixture of swimming fast, swimming for health and swimming for life embodied by “Swimming Fast is Fun."  Swim Right, Swim Fast. Swim for Life.  Beyond this we believe that Swimming is a sport for life.  Learning to swim makes you and your children safer when you snorkel, surf, windsurf, go boating, or just hang out at the beach or pool.  Swim training builds body & mind with whole-body exercise that helps you live longer and healthier  Swimming teaches dedication & commitment and builds pride & self-confidence by rewarding hard work with accomplishment that lasts a lifetime.  Swimming is a sport you can do from childhood to a healthy old age.  To do this, we turn our swimmers' dreams into reality through personal achievement in competitive swimming.

All Coaches are all certified professionals.  Our coaches all swim and swam - and know the joy of swimming fast, swimming for fun, swimming for exercise, and how to swim right!  Our coaches include 2 NCAA finalists (one Div I, one Div III).  Our other coaches competed in high school and college.  Some still compete.  Some have children who have swum with us and for other clubs.  One is a naturalist, one a math teacher, one a shop teacher, one a pilot, and most of us do ocean swims regularly off the shores of Maui.  We also play in the ocean Windsurfing & Surfing.

Hawaii has a great history of swimming.  Swimming is a sport for life in every meaning of the word - especially on an island.  Duke Kahanamoku is famous world wide as an Olympic Swimmer as well as a surfer.  Coach Soichi Sakamoto of Maui created world-champion swimmers in the irrigation ditches and went on to grandfather much of USA-Swim coaching basics.  The County of Maui has unsurpassed swimming facilities for it's children (and others).  Maui has six (6) USA Swimming teams serving all areas but Hana.  Swim technique, different swim strokes, physical conditioning, water safety and even ocean swimming are just parts of our programs including summer LTS programs.  All teams are non-profit Parent-run organizations.
